The Wheeling Thunder baseball team was started in 2009.  13 players from 2 communities were joined together to form the Wheeling Thunder travel team. They began as a U9 travel team and are now competing with 11 players at the U13 level.

Their first tournament championship came in a Weirton Tournament in 2009 and they have since won 4 tournaments, including the Mt. Lebanon and Battle at the Lock championships this past season.

Their team competed in the 2011 Ripken Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC where they went 3-3.   The Thunder compiled an impressive 29-7 overall record this past 2011 season.
